New coach Vorborg overlooks his squad

EG lose in opening matchup at BLAST

The new-look Evil Geniuses had a rough time against the #1 team in the world.

In what was always going to be the toughest first match for Evil Geniuses, there were definitely positives to take away as the newly-created (and even with a sub) NA team played their first official match. With Timothy "autimatic" Ta needing to handle a personal issue away from the team, Will "RUSH" Wierzba stepped in to fill his place while new IGL Sanzhar "neaLan" Iskhakov and youngster Jaden "HexT" Postma played their toughest opponent in their careers so far.

The match on Inferno started off with EG converting their T-side pistol and successfully winning the subsequent two rounds. However, it would be those and one force-buy round later that would be the total rounds won for the North American side in the first half. The half would end 4-11 with FaZe Clan winning eight rounds in a row.

It wasn't going to get any easier for the Geniuses in the second half as they lost their CT-side pistol, putting them in a precarious position. With the scoreline at 14-4 and FaZe Clan on an eleven-round run momentum, it looked like it was going to be all EU all the way. However, EG would win their first gun round of the game to swing the game back in their favor just a bit. The tide did not swing enough for EG, as they ultimately fell to the best team in the world 16-8.

Evil Geniuses will now head to the lower final where they await the loser of Heroic v. BIG. They are expected to play at 10:30AM.

Definitely some first game jitters, us not slowing down and playing the round out in hectic situations on T, but we looked better and better as the half went on

On CT we did well, just got to beat deagles and we're good 🤠

Takes time to adjust honestly - think the squad needs more time in T1. How long are you guys in EU for after this to prep for RMRs?

We will be in NA right after Blast for the open qualifiers, and then for a bit to let the players stay at home, practice internally with our roster and then we'll spend a couple of weeks in Europe to practice and for EPL before the RMR

I still believe in the vorborg. I know you have the chops for it so pls Don't let these opening matches dissuade you. You are a legend and soon enough, the squad will be too. Much love from the NA scene 💚

Oh, I definitely won't be dissuaded!
It will take time, and all the decisions and actions I take is with long-term results in mind. Aslong as we're moving in the right direction, I'll be happy.

Thank you so much for the support! I've surprisingly gotten a lot of positive responses after our rough start, and it truly means a lot
