JBa was voted the best player in NA Advanced S42

JBa: "One of our main goals is to make it to a European LAN in the next nine months"

The 18-year-old has high hopes for his current team entering S42.

After being voted the best player inside of NA ADV by his peers ahead of S42, Limitless prodigy Josh "JBa" Barutt sat down with Dust2.us' Lukas DeWitt on the Crouch Peek Podcast to discuss his ranking, warmup routine, team goals, personal goals, and more.

What was your mindset when you saw the player ranking form being passed around to players? Did you expect to be rated this high?

I expected to be in the top ten or top five.

What do you think you do that sets you apart?

I grind the game a lot. I play deathmatch, KZ, pugs, scrims – everything. Everyday.

This jumps me into the next question, what does a standard day of warmup look like for you?

Everyday I work on my aim and my movement so I’ll do two hours of deathmatch and 30 minutes of KZ. Something like that.

Were there any pro players that drew you into the game before playing? And do you have any pro players now that you draw inspiration from?

Not anybody recently but when I was up and coming Stewie2k was always the one I looked up to.

What does stamina do to improve your game and what does he do that makes him such a good in-game leader? What do you see?

He cares a lot about the game. He has a passion for it, he wants what is best for everybody on the team and he offers one-on-one help whenever we need it and he teaches us a lot of stuff.

People are talking about how special this Limitless team is, I made a comment calling you guys the ADV juggernaut. Can you tell me firsthand how far you think this team can go? Do you believe the hype?

I do have high hopes for the season. I think we are at least top three, if not higher. The ceiling for this team is really high, we just have to work hard every day.

So it sounds like ECL is the goal for you guys then?

Yes. One of our main goals is to make it to a European LAN in the next nine months.

You’re talking about going to Europe, obviously you need organizational support with that. We’ve seen an increase of interest in Limitless with NFL lineman Graham Glasgow coming in. Can you walk me through what it's like being with an organization that appears to care a lot about its CS:GO division? Walk me through your experiences.

Limitless is the best org I have been with, hands down. I don’t think anybody in this scene, the lower tier, is as good as Limitless. X13 was also really good.

Pivoting to your other top ten teammate, scaar. Walk me through him as a talent for individuals who are unfamiliar.

scaar is just a really solid teammate. He is nice, cares about everybody, and he can shoot really good.

I dug into your Twitter and saw in August of 2020 you tweeted “I’m winning a major one day”. This is everyone’s favorite thing to do. You’re surging at 18 years old, everyone in ADV is raving about you, and you’re talking about making European LANs. But in ADV a lot of times players run into this decision of “is this something I really want to commit to?”, so is that the goal here? Is pro and the major the goal?

The major is the major goal. It is the only thing I want to do so I am going to keep working toward it until I get it.

How many hours a week are you putting in?

This summer I’ve been averaging 120 hours every two weeks.

JBa and the rest of the new-look Limitless make their debut on August 15th against Wiffys.
