Bad News Eagles gets some Canadian help

The most American-sounding team now has a North American in their ranks.

On Monday, Kieran "KayJay" Playfair announced that he had joined the Bad News Eagles, an unsigned Kosovar team that made waves in recent months by finishing top 16 at the PGL Antwerp Major 2022. The Canadian coach will be acting as an unpaid assistant coach under Klesti "stikle-" Kola as the duo prepare for the upcoming IEM Rio 2022 European RMR as they look to book a spot in Rio de Janeiro.

Dust2.us reached out to KayJay to find out more about his involvement in the team and how he would be contributing to a squad that has already turned heads on the international stage. KayJay told Dust2.us:

Now that the player break is over I'm helping out with rebuilding their strat book, identity, anti-stratting, just to name a few. Basically just there to help them prepare for the major and give a different perspective on things.

This is not the first example of a North American coach venturing across the pond for new opportunities. Colin "koi" Thor and Hunter "Lucid" Tucker previously worked as assistant coaches and analyst for MOUZ and FPX, respectively last year. Both ventures were relatively short-lived, with the two coaches ending up with Davenport University and Liquid, having found success after returning home.

Bad News Eagles are now:

  • Sener "SENER1" Mahmuti

  • Genc "gxx-" Kolgeci

  • Flatron "juanflatroo" Halimi

  • Dionis "sinnopsyy" Budeci

  • Rigon "rigoN" Gashi

  • Klesti "stikle-"Kola (Coach)

  • Canada Kieran "KayJay" Playfair (Assistant Coach)

KayJay's first event with the team after being announced will be ESL Challenger League Season 42: Europe, which starts on August 16th. Even on a European team, KayJay can't escape Dust2.us' generic off-season outro.
