The promising Brazilian AWPer has been moved to paiN's bench along with NEKIZ

nython moved to the bench by paiN

paiN have elected to make another move shortly after the benching of NEKIZ.

The Brazilian organization paiN has announced that AWPer Gabriel "nython" Lino will be moved to the roster's bench, marking the end of the sniper's five-month tenure with the squad. This is the second change to paiN's lineup recently, with the organization moving longtime rifler Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato to the bench just days ago.

nython linked up with paiN in February of this year to make up for the team's loss of Rafael "saffee" Costa, who had made the move to FURIA a month prior. Considering saffee's impressive 1.28 rating throughout his tenure with paiN, nython had incredibly big shoes to fill when signing with paiN. Although he was unable to consistently produce the star numbers that saffee attained, nython was still an important piece to the team, averaging a 1.15 rating in his five months with squad,

Prior to this move, paiN had been doing fairly well domestically, recently winning the ECL Season 41 finals over ATK to secure a spot in the ESL Pro League Season 17 Conference. paiN also earned the chance to compete in international events, qualifying for the BLAST Premier Spring Final in Lisbon, Portugal after besting FURIA and Liquid in the Spring Showdown, while also making the cut-off for the IEM Cologne Play-in thanks to the ESL World Rankings.

Although pain were unable to make deep runs against top European opposition during their ventures in Cologne and Lisbon, the team was not completely blown out of the water. At the BLAST Premier Spring Final, paiN took their elimination series against Vitality all three maps after securing a win on Dust2, before the European side sent them packing. Shortly after at the IEM Cologne Play-in paiN brought eventual quarterfinalists MOUZ to overtime in their opening BO1, before narrowly falling to Sprout after a close BO3. While these results were certainly not ideal, paiN showed that they had the potential to make a dent against European teams when given the chance.

paiN's roster is now:

  • Brazil Rodrigo "biguzera" Bittencourt

  • Brazil Vinicios "PKL" Coelho

  • Brazil Wesley "hardzao" Lopes

  • Brazil Bruno "bruno" Lesnik (Coach)

  • Brazil Henrique "rikz" Waku (Assistant Coach)

  • Brazil Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato (Inactive)

  • Brazil Gabriel "nython" Lino (Inactive)

With nython and NEKIZ both now relegated to the squad's bench, paiN will be looking to completely revitalize their lineup heading into ECL Season 42. paiN will have some time to sort out the new lineup, as ECL Season 42 is not set to begin until August 16th.
