DreamHack Masters Stockholm will mark the fourth Masters event.

DreamHack Masters Stockholm announced for 2018

Boasting a sizable $250,000 prize pool, the Masters event heads back to the European home of Counter-Strike.

In the Fall of 2018 DreamHack will be bringing their revered Masters event back to their home city of Stockholm, Sweden. Taking place at the famous Ericsson Globe arena, 16 teams will meet to contend for the $250,000 prize pool.

The group stage will be held August 29-31 and viewable only via stream. Once playoffs commence the teams will head to the Ericsson Globe September 1-2. DreamHack will be partnering with the City of Stockholm and Stockholm Live as they hope to make this a truly special event.

The President and CEO of DreamHack released this statement as they announced the event:

"We are tremendously excited to head to Stockholm with DreamHack Masters," said Marcus Lindmark, DreamHack AB CEO and President. 

"Stockholm is the home of the DreamHack headquarters, and Stockholm Live has some of the best facilities available globally, so we are going to have everything at our fingertips to produce the best esport event and experience possible, for both viewers onsite and online."

Organizers from DreamHack teased that more information will be released in the coming weeks. Tickets are slated to go on sale beginning February 28, 2018.

In an interview with HLTV.org, DreamHack Project Manager Marc Winther confirmed that DreamHack Masters Stockholm is the event that the company has pitched to Valve for the second Major of 2018.

DHM events have traditionally featured a lot of invited teams, with only one NA qualifier slot last time around. Hopefully we get to see some representation!
