dumau says that Liquid was an option that he considered

dumau declined Liquid offer in favor of joining 00 Nation

The Liquid/00 Nation game just got a whole lot spicier.

In an interview with Dust2.com.br today, Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer revealed that in the midst of the transition from GODSENT to 00 Nation, he received an offer from Liquid to link up with the North American side. Instead, dumau opted to stick with GODSENT teammates Epitacio "TACO" de Melo and Bruno "latto" Rebelatto in the move to 00 Nation.

dumau's statement in the interview confirms a report by Draft5 in early June that suggested Liquid contacted the young Brazilian player, also confirming he ultimately rejected the North American squad's advances, instead opting to play on 00 Nation. dumau cited his desire to continue playing with latto and TACO, as well as the language barrier at Liquid as the key reasons for why he decided to play with 00 Nation.

I got a offer, but I had to think, because I had two opportunities, it was either 00Nation or Liquid. I stopped for a while, thought, I decided to stay at Zero Zero because I already had the guys, latto and TACO, we already had teamplay, we feel the game the same way, we learned to play the same CS and then I decided to stay at Zero Zero. The language is also different and, at the moment, it's better to be with the guys. I also trust try and cold a lot too, they are very good, I trust the guys a lot.

Just a little over one month ago, Dust2.com.br reported that 00 Nation would be overhauling their roster. The changes to the squad came after lackluster results from the roster during the early part of 2022, with Marcelo "coldzera" David's project missing out on the PGL Antwerp Major after a 1-3 record in the Americas RMR. Originally the plan, as reported by Dust2.com.br, was to retain coldzera and bring on the quartet of latto, TACO, dumau, and Bruno "b4rtiN" Câmara from GODSENT. While 00 Nation did end up acquiring the first three of these players, b4rtiN was ultimately left out of the rebuild as Argentinian AWPer Santino "try" Rigal remained with the organization.

While 00 Nation took a considerable amount of time for their roster move to finally be complete, Liquid's post-Major moves came at a much quicker pace. Liquid moved Richard "shox" Papillon and coach Eric "adreN" Hoag to the bench just weeks after the squad's early exit from IEM Dallas. While the coach role was quickly filled by the addition of Damian "daps" Steele, Liquid have had a far more difficult time finding a fifth player, exacerbated by the IEM Cologne roster lock in late June.

Liquid looked to a variety of options to fill their fifth spot, either temporarily or permanently. For IEM Cologne, the North American squad inquired into the availability of Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski, Justin "jks" Savage, and players from Dignitas and Evil Geniuses' Carpe Diem squad. While the team is currently utilizing Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis at IEM Cologne, the prospects of the Latvian star as a permanent addition are murky due to the sanctions placed on Virtus.pro.

While it's a little bit early to tell if dumau made the right decision quite yet, things certainly do look like they're going well for the Brazilian youngster. Despite being a fresh squad, 00 Nation has impressed at IEM Cologne, besting Astralis and Imperial while staying competitive against Spirit and FaZe. Now in the lower bracket, dumau will be squaring off with what could have been his potential teammates in Liquid. The two squads are set to fight for their tournament lives tomorrow at 06:30AM.
