DreamHack Open Rio qualifier details announced

Two qualifiers will award teams from the Americas with spots at the event.

DreamHack have announced the qualifier dates for their first Open stop of the year in Rio de Janeiro, with the North America and North Latin America open qualifier set to take place on March 9th. The closed qualifier will take the place the following day, March 10th, awarding a single team with a spot at the $100,000 event.

In similiar fashion to previous DreamHack Open qualifiers, the DreamHack Open Rio open qualifier will take place on ESEA, and award the top four teams spots in the closed qualifier. There, the four qualifying teams will be joined by an additional four invited sides, where they will play through a single-elimination best-of-three bracket to crown a champion, who will earn a spot at DreamHack Open Rio.

Notably, neither qualifier offers a spot to any team outside of the Americas, with one qualifier for Brazil/South Latin America and the other for North America/North Latin America. The remaining six spots at the event will be determined by invites, with three them already having been announced — Luminosity, FURIA, and Sharks. The remaining three invites are set to be revealed in the near future.

For now, the team list for DreamHack Open Rio looks as follows:

Brazil FURIA Brazil Luminosity
Brazil Sharks World Invite
World Invite World Invite
Brazil BR/SLAM qualifier NA/NLAM qualifier

The open qualifier is set to kick off on March 9th at 3 PM EST, with signups open on the ESEA event page until 2 PM the same day. As always, dates and signup links for upcoming qualifiers can be found on the Dust2.us Calendar.
