Renegades acquire NAF

After a disappointing performance at DreamHack Masters Malmö, Renegades has agreed to buyout Kieth “NAF” Markovic from his OpTic Gaming contract.

The Canadian all-rounder, who will be stepping into the shoes of David “Jayzwalkingz” Kempner, actually has a quite tenured history in CS:GO, first coming into the top of the NA scene with Denial and Team Liquid, where he played with Damian “daps” Steele.

Later on with Sponsorless and Conquest, the core that eventually became OpTic Gaming, he achieved many top placings, including winning ELEAGUE Season 2, and 2nd place at ECS Season 2 Finals. However, after the loss of Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz, the team never found their footing again.

This moves comes after NAF’s teammates Will “RUSH” Wierzba and Tarik “tarik” Celik left to Cloud9, leaving him the last North American player to play for OpTic, and Renegades exiting in the group stage of DreamHack Masters Malmo yesterday.

The future for Jayzwalkingz is uncertain, but he will likely stay on the bench of Renegades and accumulate offers from other teams. Whether that means returning to Sweden, or attempting an international squad again, it is currently unknown.

After this move, the full roster of Renegades is:

  • Australia AZR
  • Australia jks
  • Australia USTILO
  • United States Nifty
  • Canada NAF
  • kassad (Coach)

The majority Australian team will next be found playing in the online ESL Pro League, where they currently hold a 2-2 record, splitting series with Immortals and Splyce.
