rEAK fills out WESG Regional LAN team list

In an all Chilean head-to-head, rEAK conquered their fellow countrymen of Set The Rules 2-1.

The final spot for the WESG Americas Regional LAN Finals has now been determined as the Southern South America qualifiers come to a close. The playoffs boiled down to two Chilean teams meeting up in the grand finals to decide who would represent their region.

The series began on Inferno, Set The Rules choice of the map veto. rEAK kicked things off in their favor as they took the first three rounds of their CT-side. After a series of single round trades back and forth Set The Rules grinded out a substantive six consecutive rounds for themselves before the hand ended 9-6 for them. Transitioning to the second half of the map it was all but a shutout, only a single round could be gained by Set The Rules after a dominant first half, leading to a 16-10 victory for rEAK.

A truly back and forth map, and the only one in the series, Mirage began with Set The Rules setting the pace 3-0 to start their T-side. Almost as if mirroring the ending of the last map, rEAK responded with a massive streak, culminating in 11 rounds before the first half ended. Unshaken, Set the Rules pressed forward. They began to creep back towards an even scoreline by taking the first six rounds on their defense. Over half of their CT rounds ended in close defusal situations. Able to hold off any significant round gain for rEAK, Set The Rules was able to bring it to overtime which they ran away with 4-0, ending the map 19-15.

Overpass was the stage for the final map of this important series. A first round bomb plant and a smart save from Set The Rules allowed them to have the strong economy that net them 3 early rounds. From there rEAK began to take control of the momentum throughout the rest of the half. The hero of their CT-side was Jose "LinKz" Ortega who showed up big with two 3k's on the A-site defense to keep their string of rounds going to 10-5 in their favor. Set The Rules began their comeback right, securing the first two rounds on their defense, but it was shattered by an early buy from rEAK. Unable to regain the momentum they lost, rEAK wins out 16-7 and takes the series 2-1.
