Zellsis will get his first shot on a top tier team as a part of freakazoid's former organization

Cloud9 confirm addition of Zellsis on trial

The Swole Patrol player will get a shot at the big leagues on Cloud9.

Cloud9 have announced that they intend to field Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro on trial in place of in-game leader Maikil "Golden" Selim, confirming reports by Dust2.us, Rush B Media, and Jarek "DeKay" Lewis from earlier this week. Ryan from Rush B Media reports that Zellsis' contract is probationary, ending after the IEM Katowice Major. If the team decides to keep Zellsis as a full-time member, he would be brought on board under a three-year contract.

It was initially reported by us here at Dust2.us that Cloud9 were considering the addition of former Spacestation star Gage "Infinite" Green, but talks with the player stalled after community backlash arose regarding the player's conduct on past teams and online.

Golden has struggled with health issues for the past few months, missing the start of BLAST Pro Series: Copenhagen and ESL Pro League Season 8 as well as the entirety of the ECS Season 6 Finals and BLAST Pro Series Lisbon. It is assumed that Cloud9 intend for Golden to return to the roster in due time, as all of the replacement players they have searched for have been on a temporary basis thus far.

Zellsis has played alongside Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir since he linked up with the former Cloud9 entry fragger in October of 2017 on Muffin Lightning, with the team eventually morphing into Swole Patrol. The team had an almost flawless run in MDL Season 29, dropping just a single map 14-16 towards the end of the season before going on to qualify for ESL Pro League in a grand final matchup against cantwinalan.

With freakazoid rumored to be on his way out of the team and recently linked with a move to Ghost, Zellsis' departure would leave Swole Patrol with just two players on their roster. It was reported earlier today by Rush B Media that the two remaining Swole Patrol players were considering the addition of the Singularity duo of Anthony "vanity" Malaspina and Victor "food" Wong, with Dust2.us able to confirm that the players had been scrimming with Zellsis as recently as Wednesday night.

Cloud9's temporary roster now looks as follows:

  • United States Timothy "autimatic" Ta
  • United States Will "RUSH" Wierzba
  • Sweden Robin "flusha" Rönnquist
  • Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey
  • United States Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro (Trial)
  • United States Soham "valens" Chowdhury (Coach)
  • Sweden Maikil "Golden" Selim (Inactive)

Zellsis' first outing with Cloud9 will be at iBUYPOWER Masters 2019, set to begin on January 19th.
