TenZ shined as Test Takers sent Ghost packing

Four teams remain after second day of Americas Minor closed qualifier

Swole Patrol, Test Takers, Bravado, and oNe are set to clash for the final two spots at the Americas Minor.

The second day of the IEM Katowice Americas Minor closed qualifier has concluded, seeing Ghost, Spacestation, Singularity, and Luminosity eliminated from the running as Test Takers, Swole Patrol, Bravado, and oNe advance to the lower bracket semifinals.

The four remaining teams will play for the final two slots at the Americas Minor tomorrow, joining yesterday's winners on the road to the Major.

In perhaps the most controversial matchup of the day, Sean "seang@res" Gares' Old Guys Club took on oNe, initially grabbing a win on Cache 16-11 before the series moved on to Inferno.

There, Old Guys Club pulled ahead, achieving match point at 15-13 before announcing that they would forfeit the series due to Mike "shroud" Grzesiek having obligations for a sponsored stream. As they were unable to reschedule the following match, Old Guys Club chose to forfeit and give oNe the chance to continue their run through the qualifier.

Unlike yesterday where they were forced to play with their coach Rafael "zakk" Fernandes due to not adding Henrique "HEN1" Teles to their roster, Luminosity were allowed to field their full five-man lineup in their match today. Although HEN1 topped the board for Luminosity in their match against Bravado, the South Africans prevailed on both Dust2 and Mirage, putting up 8-7 halves on both maps before them out 16-12.

Tyson "TenZ" Ngo paved the way for Test Takers in their opening matchup against Mythic, putting up a 1.68 rating and averaging 114 ADR for the series to take a 2-0 win. A 16-11 win on Mirage saw Test Takers grab the first map of the series, but they were put on the backfoot after the first half of Train left them trailing 4-11 swapping onto their T side.

Two timely resets allowed for TenZ and his crew to rally back against Mythic, giving up just two rounds against the stream team in the second half to grab themselves a 16-13 win and eliminate Mythic from the running.

The most heartbreaking matchup of the day saw iNTACT grab themselves a 16-7 map win on Nuke against Spacestation before going on to post a 13-2 CT side half on Train, putting themselves just three rounds away from advancing to the next round of the lower bracket.

Unfortunately, iNTACT were unable to muster a single T side round as Spacestation ground back 14 rounds in a row, conceding nothing as they took the second map of the series 16-13. Chad "oderus" Miller's side continued their momentum into the deciding map of Overpass, racking up 13 rounds on their CT side before closing out the map 16-8.

The final quartet of series saw just two maps played each, with no team managing to take a series to a deciding map. Test Takers continued their winning ways against the Joshua "steel" Nissan-less Ghost, picking up a 16-12 victory on Inferno before eliminating their ESL Pro League opposition 16-10 on Train.

Ryan "ryann" Welsh had a rough series against Bravado in their lower bracket matchup, managing just 16 frags over the two maps that were played. Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek led the way for his side, helping net a 16-13 win on Dust2 before stealing away Singularity's map pick of Cache 16-14.

It was Edgar "MarKE" Jimenez who stepped up for Swole Patrol in their final matchup of the day against Spacestation, rallying back from a 6-10 deficit on Cache to edge out the map win 16-13.

Train saw similar scenes as Swole Patrol mustered just four rounds on their T side, leaving Spacestation with a good shot at taking the series to the deciding map of Inferno. Alas, a pistol round victory in the second half of Train allowed for Swole Patrol to take five rounds straight before they reset Spacestation's economy, continuing their run of rounds to give up just three additional rounds, resulting in the map going to overtime.

Overtime opened with Swole Patrol grabbing two of the first three rounds before swapping sides, where they closed out the series 19-16 to advance to the lower bracket semifinals.

Rogue were unable to put a stop to Alencar "trk" Rossato and the rest of oNe in the final matchup of the day, with trk posting a 1.80 rating on Inferno to help grab his team an 11-4 opening half before closing out the map 16-8.

The rest of oNe joined in on the fragging as the series moved on to Rogue's pick of Train, with the Brazilians posting a 10-5 half on their CT side. Rogue attempted to keep themselves in the running with a win in the second half pistol, but found themselves quickly reset as oNe rallied back to take the map 16-12 and the series 2-0.

I think oNe have a shot at it considering Swole are playing without brax, but Bravado should take their matchup.

Gave you a cake btw.
