NRG, FURIA, eUnited, and Envy qualify for IEM Katowice Americas Minor

Two spots remain as teams look to make runs through the lower bracket.

The first day of the IEM Katowice Americas Minor closed qualifier has concluded, seeing NRG, eUnited, Envy, and FURIA net spots at the Americas Minor.

The qualifier kicked off with some controversy, with Lucas "steel" Lopes tweeting out that Luminosity would not be allowed to field their AWPer Henrique "HEN1" Teles due to the player not being added to the team's roster for the qualifier in time. Instead, the team were forced to field their coach, Rafael "zakk" Fernandes, resulting in a rather swift 2-0 loss at the hands of FURIA.

Singularity had little difficulty dispatching of Spacestation, who were fielding Anthony "gMd" Guimond as a stand-in, demolishing their opponents 16-2 on Overpass before taking ten rounds straight in the second half of Inferno for a 16-9 map win.

Austin "Cooper-" Abadir had an impressive debut on eUnited, aiding the team in putting up a 13-2 halftime score on Inferno against Sean "seang@res" Gares' Old Guys Club that featured four Cloud9 alumni. Old Guys Club were unable to contest map one as eUnited took the win 16-2, but managed to bounce back on Cache in overtime despite Cooper- dropping 38 frags to clinch a 19-17 win to take the series to Mirage.

On the deciding map, Old Guys Club once again struggled to crack eUnited's defense, with the ESL Pro League team garnering 10 rounds in the first half. Although seang@res and co. grabbed themselves a win in the second half pistol round, they were unable to chain rounds together and found themselves quickly crushed out of the map as eUnited took the map 16-8.
