steel and Immortals won't be attending IEM Oakland

Renegades replace Immortals at IEM Oakland

Unable to field a qualified majority starting line-up, topped with an array of visa issues, Immortals were forced to forfeit their spot in Oakland to Renegades.

ESL put out a press release yesterday stating that the Brazilian roster of Immortals would be unable to attend IEM Oakland. While it did not specify which players were affected, they did cite prior employment from some of the new additions to the roster to be the cause of their visa issues.

The official ruling for the team being unable to participate, however, is that according to section 2.12.4 of ESL's official ruleset, teams must maintain a majority 3/5 roster from the time of qualification to the finals of the event. This is yet another blow to the Immortals CS:GO division as they recently lost star players Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles, Henrique "HEN1" Teles, and Vito "kNgV-" Giuseppe in a series of controversial departures, and missed several events due to the sudden exit of players.

Replacing them will be the up-and-coming Renegades who've been on a hot streak lately, winning the Asia Minor, StarLadder i-League Invitational and taking a close 2nd place finish in the iBUYPOWER Masters 2017 today against Cloud9.

With Renegades now in the place of Immortals, the team list for IEM Oakland 2017 is as follows:

United States Cloud9 Gambit
Brazil SK FaZe
Sweden NiP OpTic
The Mongolz Australia Renegades
Denmark Astralis G2
EnVyUs United States Liquid

The group stage of IEM Oakland will kick off tomorrow, November 14, and run through November 19.
