Liquid triumph over OpTic to secure playoff spot
Mirage continues to be a popular choice for professional teams, with Liquid and OpTic deciding to face each other on the map in the Group B Winners match. Liquid took immediate control of the map by grabbing the first pistol round and two anti-ecos with ease. OpTic were able to secure their first and second gun round despite some heavy losses, forcing Liquid onto a save. Unfortunately for OpTic, Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken had no intention of making the match easy for them - three deagle kills from the man gave Liquid the advantage in the rest of the half.
Twistzz went on to absolutely dominate the first half with a scoreline of 25 kills, 3 assists, and 4 deaths, dealing an average of 173 damage per round. A two-on-five victory on round 11 added insult to injury and Liquid racked up almost every round in the half, only relenting to OpTic in the final round to bring the scoreline to 12-3.
OpTic gave themselves a fighting chance by securing the second pistol round on their T side, stringing together five more rounds for themselves as they fought to stay in the match. Just when it seemed like OpTic was going to make the half a competitive one, a lost anti-eco round crushed their hopes - Liquid gave them no chance back into the map once they were given an opening. Three rounds were all Liquid needed to close out the map, and three rounds was what they took as they brought the match to a close.
