eUnited fall into the elimination match as North America's only team at the event

ENCE, AGO to DreamHack Montreal playoffs

Who would've guessed it was going to be so EZ?

The first day of DreamHack Montreal has finished, with the national powerhouses ENCE and AGO making their way into the event's playoffs stage.

The first match of the day saw the aforementioned ENCE easily take down eUnited in Group A, with the latter team being the only representatives for North America at the event. While Kaleb "moose" Jayne was able to pull off some impressive plays against the Finns, ENCE ultimately came out on top 16-9.

The Group B opening match featured AGO and Imperial going up against each other. Despite Imperial's previous win at DreamHack Summer, AGO crushed the Lithuanian core on Train, with a 16-3 scoreline knocking Imperial into the elimination match.

Moving back to Group A, the other opening match saw Red Reserve take on Kinguin. Red Reserve initially started out strong, with Fredrik "freddieb" Buö's team taking the first six rounds and ultimately taking the lead 9-6. Kinguin fought back in the second half, nearly taking the game into overtime before Red Reserve closed Train 16-14.

The final opening match in Montreal kicked off with Heroic and Luminosity going up against each other on Overpass. Heroic took the early lead in the first half, with both teams trading three rounds each later in the half, with Heroic still up 9-6. Luminosity pulled it back in the second half, taking the game into overtime. Overtime proved to be as competitive, with Luminosity edging out Heroic 19-17.

With the opening matches wrapped up, the winners' matches began in both groups. In Group A, the Nordic showdown between ENCE and Red Reserve played out on Mirage. Despite a strong performance from Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin, his team were unable to follow through, as ENCE crushed Red Reserve 16-7, qualifying them for the Playoffs stage.

The final match of the day was the Group B winners' match, with Luminosity and AGO duking it out on Dust2 for a spot in the playoffs. AGO had a strong lead in the first half, going 10-5 over the Brazilian team. Luminosity attempted to initiate a comeback in the second half, making it to double digits before AGO wrapped up the map 16-11, guaranteeing them as the second team in the Montreal playoffs.
