ESEA Main Qualifier concludes; Latvia > NA
The qualification cup for the ESEA Main division has concluded, with Higher Power, maybe main, PAW Patrol, and Bald Bums securing spots.
This is the second of three cups which grant spots in different divisions of the ESEA League. The Advanced cup already completed, with FURIA and myRevenge winning spots in that division earlier this week. The Intermediate cup is ongoing and will hand out 16 spots.
In the quarterfinals, Higher Power took down Rias Fan Club 2-1 (16-10 Overpass, 13-16 Mirage, 16-14 Cache). All three maps were quite close and Higher Power had good starts on the first two maps. The third map was the closest of them all, with HP barely escaping with the win, despite the good play of Zevro from RFC.
maybe main defeated FOCAL Point 2-0 (16-3 Dust II, 16-9 Mirage) in the second quarterfinal match. With MDL veteran Michael "Orbit" Faulkner leading the way, maybe main had two fairly dominant map wins to advance to the Main division.
The round of eight continued as PAW Patrol beat ID Disorder 2-1 (9-16 Overpass, 16-11 Mirage, ?). The final match then went 2-0 (16-5 Nuke, 16-13 Train) for the Bald Bums over Akatsuki.
Interestingly, the Bald Bums roster contained Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis despite the player being in Latvia. The player has confirmed to Dust2.us that he plans on playing the upcoming season with the team, despite being in Europe.
