compLexity moves past NRG to Minor playoffs

The underdog team led by Slemmy took down the new roster of NRG in three maps to advance to the semifinals.

With just one spot left in order to grab qualification for the play-offs out of Group A, it saw NRG face up against compLexity in the decider. The two met in their first Group A tie, where NRG managed to overcome their opponent in overtime, winning 19-17. The vetoes came in and saw an immediate rematch with Mirage, followed by Inferno and Cobblestone.

With the rematch kicking off, the two got underway on Mirage. The game started off mirroring their previous game, with coL picking up the pistol and it's following rounds. NRG managed to fight back, but compLexity managed to stay in control throughout their CT side, with in-game leader Alec "Slemmy" White leading the way, leading to a 9-6 lead.

The second half began with NRG this time taking the first three rounds, and the Jacob "FugLy" Medina-led team acquired a lot of momentum. Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte and FugLy himself put up big frags for their team, racking up winning nine rounds in a row and landing them onto map point. After a small attempt by compLexity to mount a comeback, NRG finished off Mirage 16-11.

compLexity's pick of Inferno started quite similarly to Mirage but this time it was NRG who won the pistol and its following two rounds. compLexity strung a few rounds together in the middle of the half, but the AWP from Cvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov reigned supreme, and NRG secured a 9-6 T side half.

In a reverse of the previous map, coL ran a dominant second half, with Rory "dephh" Jackson and Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker topping the charts for their team. Despite the efforts of CeRq and Brehze, compLexity easily closed their map pick out 16-10.

The final map, Cobblestone, mirrored compLexity's match against TeamOne earlier today in that it was very back and forth, with neither team giving much room to the other. NRG won the pistol round and the second round, but couldn't keep control of the economy or the half. FugLy and Brehze once again were the leaders for the team, and they ended the first half 8-7.

From the CT side, Slemmy made many critical calls that allowed his team to take a substantial lead. On top of dephh once again having a strong performance, Slemmy himself played one of his best games individually. FugLy tried his best, and took his team to the final round of regulation, but was unable to win the 1v3 in round 30 resulting in compLexity taking Cobblestone 16-14, and the series 2-1.

This means the two teams to advance to the playoffs from Group A are Liquid and compLexity. They will face off against the two advancing teams from Group B - decided tomorrow - in the semifinals and will battle through a double-elimination playoff bracket to determine which teams will claim spots at the Major Main Qualifier set to take place in January.

That's a real FeelsBadMan for NRG, really thought them, or CLG, would make it to the finals next to Liquid. They do have iBP masters coming up shortly, I think they can do damage there.
