SK have to fight to make the LAN finals

EPL Season 7 Super Day - Where each team stands

Who still can qualify for the finals? Who can excape relegation? (Spoiler: Not Dignitas)

The final day of ESL Pro League Season 7 is upon us, with the majority of placings still to be decided. Here we will look at each team and what their possibilities of placements are.

On the top end of things, Liquid, NRG, OpTic, Cloud9, and Renegades have guaranteed themselves spots at the LAN finals in Dallas. Liquid in particular have also guaranteed first place in the online portion, ensuring the best seeding from the region.

On the bottom end, MDL Season 26 winners Dignitas are guaranteed to be demoted back to MDL. Dignitas have had a rough Pro League Season, as they were not allowed to use their fifth player Ryan "Snakes" Amann for the season. The team also ended up losing Jack "xCeeD" Holiman and Matthew "mCe" Elmore along the way.

The middle of the pack is still open however, and SK, Rogue, and Luminosity are the three teams able to grab the last finals spot. Each of these teams are also safe from relegation.

SK needs to gain four points in their games against Renegades as well as Luminosity to enter overtime or to lose a map in order to secure their place at the finals.

If SK and Luminosity end up tying, then the two teams would need to play a BO3 decider as they would have had equal amounts of rounds won in regulation. If SK and Rogue end up tying, then SK would win the tiebreaker through rounds won. If Rogue and Luminosity manage to tie (through SK gaining two or fewer points) then they would require the BO3 decider to determine the team to advance.

The final three teams, compLexity, Ghost, and Splyce, will be fighting for the single spot to escape relegation. The two who fail to claim the spot will need to travel to the Global Challenge LAN and fight in Relegation against the second and third place teams from MDL to keep their place in EPL.

Splyce is the least likely to claim the safe spot, as their final match is against Cloud9 and they would need to win 2-0 in regulation to hope to advance. Splyce would also need the match between compLexity and Ghost to be a draw.

The winner of this Ghost/compLexity match is likely to decide which team will retain their position in the league for next season. If either team wins the series 2-0 with at least one map being in regulation, then the winning team will claim the safe spot.

The final day of the ESL Pro League Season 7 regular season will commence tonight at 8 PM EDT.
