Cloud9 make a statement in Marseille as they take down FaZe 2-0 with their refreshed roster.

Cloud9 upset FaZe in DreamHack Marseille groups; through to playoffs

The first major upset at DreamHack Marseille was seen earlier, with Cloud9 taking down FaZe 2-0 in the Group A winners match.

While expectations were up in the air for Cloud9, as they began their series against FaZe to decide who would be the winners of Group A at DreamHack Marseille, few could've guessed that they would come out on top 2-0 against the highest ranked team in the world with a new roster addition.

As if it were just another day at the office, Cloud9 started off on their T-side of Overpass with a fervor that FaZe could not respond to effectively, netting them nine of the first eleven rounds before the European titans could compose themselves enough to claim the last four of the half. Cloud9 just about run away with the game after claiming the first five rounds of their CT-side as well, but FaZe wouldn't allow an easy victory, as they pushed back with six of their own before Cloud9 closed it out 16-13.

After claiming their first pistol round of the series, FaZe looked to be the ones to control the pace of the game this time on Mirage. Their good spirits were short-lived, however, as Cloud9's strong Terrorist side shined through yet again, ending the half 9-6 in their favor. FaZe managed to match Cloud9's success on their T-side as well, racking up the first six rounds of the second half before the North Americans could stabilize their economy and defense enough to string together five of their own. It was a tit-for-tat come the end of the map, a game that went the full 30 round distance before Cloud9 closed out Mirage 16-14.
