They just finished the Americas qualifier for CAC, with Imperial qualifying. I noticed that this was intended to be a qualifier for both NA and SA (leading to some funny stuff like 2 SA teams playing against each other on Dallas servers lmao), but for some reason it looks like only one NA team actually signed up (Priority VnD, who I've never heard of before). I get that it was a dumb idea to host an online qualifier for that big of a region, but I'd imagine some NA teams would've still wanted to try to qualify for a big international LAN, even if they have to deal with bad ping. The qualifier had both NA and SA servers so it's not like either region would've had a huge advantage.
I'm starting to think that maybe most NA teams were just completely unaware that this qualifier was happening. So, I'm asking here to see if anybody knows of any legit reason NA teams skipped this qualifier, or if it was literally just NA teams lacking awareness of the opportunities they have.
