insane players v. Aether was the second match of the playoffs in Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series 7, and it did not disappoint.
insane players came in as the higher-seed thanks to their flawless 3-0 group-stage run, while Aether were actually 2-3 but made the playoffs because BOSS pulled out of the event before the postseason started.
insane players chose to get the series started on Mirage. It was Aether who got off to the hot start on their CT side, though, taking a rapid 5-1 lead. insane players remained composed and won the final six rounds of the half, holding a 7-5 lead at halftime. insane player extended their streak to eleven rounds in a row, but Aether fought back to reduce insane players' lead to 11-10. insane players held on, winning 13-10 to hold server on their map pick.
Aether's pick was Anubis, where both teams took rounds in bursts, with both sides deadlocked at halftime, 6-6. insane players took the lead briefly at 9-8, but Aether answered back wtih five of the final six rounds to take the second map via a 13-10 scoreline.
Ancient was the decider in the series, and neither team could put together more than two rounds in a row in the first period. The trading of rounds back left the scores even at 6-6 once again. Aether jumped out to a 10-6 advantage in the second half of the decider, but it was insane players who closed with a flurry of seven rounds in a row to put Aether away and advance to the semifinals.
The trio of Kyle "Wolffe" Greenfield, Gavin "Fruitcupx" Norman, and Bogdan "ogwizard" Savula led the way for insane players, each tallying more than 49 frags in the series.
