USA Esports announced as a non-profit bridging professional and collegiate scenes

Big teams, big schools, and big goals.

Earlier today, a new account on X released several posts providing details for a USA-based non-profit organization, aptly named USA Esports. The organization will serve as a national entity connecting teams from across the esports space. Many of the biggest organizations and universities in North American esports are already members of the new USA Esports Alliance to support the effort.

Perhaps the biggest part of the announcement is the members of the USA Esports Alliance, a growing coalition supporting the creation of a unified structure. While nearly a dozen organizations are involved, some that have CS lineups are Liquid, NRG, M80, 100 Thieves, and FlyQuest.

In keeping with the unifying nature of the organization, there are also many large USA universities in the alliance, like UCLA, Syracuse University, and Georgia Tech. USA Esports emphasized that they want to expand the group as the organization grows.

Alongside the teams, they also announced the board of directors heading the organization, which contains legendary NA Counter-Strike figures Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert and Heather "sapphiRe" Mumm.

In an article written by USA Esports President and CEO Jesse Bodony, he outlined the core purpose of the organization. He discussed the lack of a "national entity that can unify the US esports ecosystem." He said that many sectors of esports in the USA, such as professional, collegiate, and amateur, are disconnected, putting the USA behind other nations. The purpose of USA Esports is "to become that unifying organization."

In the same article, he explained that a long-term goal is to become an official National Governing Body (NGB) similar to USA Basketball, USA Hockey, and all organizations recognized by the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee. This would essentially make the non-profit a federally-backed entity. Bodony stated, "It would mean there’d be a recognized body mandated to organize and grow esports at a national level, facing international competition."

Bodoy ended the article by stating that “there’s a lot more coming and we can’t wait to share it with you.”
