LAG upset BOSS to win NA Revival Series 12
NA Revival Series 12, sponsored by PrizePicks, came to an end last night with LAG taking down BOSS 2-1. In the six times these two cores have played, this is the first time LAG came out on top. It earned them a $4,000 first-place prize.
LAG beat OverKnight in a dominant 2-0, then Straight2Killin in a close 2-0 to reach the final. BOSS accepted a forfeit from MONEY CREW, then bested Outfit 49 2-0.
The final began on LAG's Inferno pick, where they got their T-side pistol. Though the teams went back and forth early on, LAG got momentum and ended the first half with a 9-3 lead. BOSS won the pistol and conversion, but LAG quickly responded with four rounds to take their pick 13-5.
BOSS picked Nuke, but started down 0-3. They won three rounds back, but lost the next six, entering the second half down 3-9 again. This time, they came in strong with five CT-rounds before LAG hit back, putting BOSS down 9-12. BOSS staved off three tournament points to take the map to overtime. In a complete reversal from a CT-sided regulation, the first overtime was six straight T-side round wins. Second overtime started with two more, before a back-and-forth streak ended with BOSS on top 19-17, forcing a decider map.
Ancient started poorly for LAG as they were down 0-4 early. They responded with seven of the next eight rounds to take a slight 7-5 lead going into their T-side. They kept that momentum up with four more rounds to take a commanding 11-5 lead. BOSS got three back, but LAG got two more to close the map 13-8 and the series 2-1.
Kamron "kmrn" Manii was a consistent force throughout the series, especially on the first two maps. He ended the match with 65 kills, 87.6 ADR, and 19 multikill rounds.
