LAG win ESEA Season 54 NA Elite Cup #1 with djay in place of brett
Despite making a last-second roster change just prior to the grand final of ESEA Season 54: Elite Cup #1, LAG managed to secure the win against MONEY CREW in 2-0 fashion.
The result came just hours after LAG confirmed to Dust2.us that the team had parted ways with IGL Brett "brett" Rhein. LAG's head coach, Brennan "Aureo" O’Connell told Dust2.us that it was due to feeling of stagnation with the roster, while brett said that he was cut as a result of emotions running high within the team.
Joining the team for the Elite final was Canadian player and NA veteran Jonathan "djay" Dallal, who announced his departure from MIGHT prior to the final. djay wrote on X that the team "couldn't find our groove through the infinite roster shakeups we dealt with," though he hasn't yet confirmed that he will be playing with LAG in a long-term capacity.
Ultimately, LAG getting the win over MONEY CREW wasn't a crucial result for the team. By making the grand final of the Elite Cup, it already guaranteed them a spot in the first ECL NA Cup of next season, Season 51.
LAG are still competing in the first cup of the current ECL NA season, with a match against BOSS in the lower bracket scheduled for next week. LAG also plays Getting Info tomorrow, August 19th, in the second round of Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series #3.
