New England Whalers set to enter free agency

The Whalers will not be renewing the team's contracts due to the economic strains of COVID-19.

New England Whalers have announced that effective December 6th, their CS:GO roster will be entering free agency as the organization can no longer afford to support the team.

In their press release, New England Whalers stated that due to the ongoing economic strains of COVID-19, their parent company Greenhouse Agency has decided to "sideline the organization" until Whalers can complete their Series A investing round to secure more funding for the organization.

Their impending release from New England Whalers marks an unfortunate end to an otherwise strong year for the team, recently claiming a second place finish in ESEA MDL Season 35. Since retooling their roster throughout the second half of the year, New England Whalers have steadily risen through HLTV's rankings, peaking at 27th in the world and fourth in North America in late October.

New England Whalers are currently:

  • Canada Jonathan "djay" Dallal
  • United States Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue
  • United States Ramal "Rampage" Silva
  • United States Ben "ben1337" Smith
  • United States Brendan "Bwills" Williams
  • United States Joseph "Muenster" Lima (Coach)

The team will be making their final appearance under the New England Whalers banner in DreamHack Masters Winter, which is set to begin on November 30th.
