maNkz reveals mental health struggles amid M80 break

A necessary step back for the IGL.

Yesterday, M80 announced that Marcus "maNkz" Kjeldsen had stepped down from the roster ahead of IEM Katowice and the 2024 PGL Copenhagen Major Americas RMR due to personal reasons.

Taking to X this morning, the IGL revealed that he was struggling with his mental health and needed to take some time for himself.

Mental health has become an important focus for the North American community as they continue to reel from the tragic passing of David "cynic" Polster. While the cause of death has not been revealed, cynic's father took to X and said that "obviously [cynic] was hurting badly on the inside" and advocated that for anyone struggling to not be afraid to ask for help.

M80 Founder & CEO Marco Mereu responded to maNkz's post with a message of support for the IGL. "We support and appreciate you Marcus. Only want the best for you." Others, including Danish caster Anders Blume also praised the Danish player for prioritizing his health.
