Strife, Detonate among first qualified teams

There are only four spots left in the closed qualifier.

Yesterday marked the start of the BLAST.tv Paris Major journey for North American teams with the open qualifiers for the Americas RMR taking place.

The first day was marked by a cheating scandal and Mythic's qualification, whereas the second day culminated with the last three teams being qualified from the first qualifier.

Mythic, Strife, Detonate, and timbermen are the first four teams joining Complexity, EG, MIBR, paiN, LOS + oNe, ATK, Nouns, and Vendetta.

Detonate and Strife managed to stop every opponent on the way to the qualification series. Detonate faced off against skriptovie, a team that reached the quarterfinals without having to play a single game due to their opponents forfeiting. The ECL side defeated skriptovie with a 2-0 score but with some problems during both maps. Strife played 4ORMULA for a spot and managed to conquer it after falling to an early 1-0 deficit on 4ORMULA's map pick.

Mythic and timbermen had more trouble reaching the quarterfinals, having some close games across their paths but nothing too serious. In the qualification series, Mythic had to give everything they had after being down a map and eight rounds on Overpass. The Erik "fl0m" Flom-led team was able to guarantee a spot in the closed qualifier. timbermen defeated the former Infinity squad that qualified for the IEM Rio Major Americas RMR with a clean but close 2-0 score line.

The second open qualifier starts at 06:00PM, and will qualify the last four teams for the closed qualifier.
