5 Lurk Supports take top spot at Frag for First
After a whole day of play yesterday at Esports Arena in Santa Ana, California, mix-team 5 Lurk Supports emerged victorious at Emmalee "EMUHLEET" Garrido's Frag for First event.
Interestingly, both finalists finished their initial groups in second place. For their part, Socal Stars were on the losing end of an overtime battle against BALD, which featured CLG Red member Benita "bENITA" Novshadian.
Once the playoffs were reached, however, it was the group runner-ups who reigned supreme, with Socal Stars taking down Jeff "RZU" Ngo and Ganon Main 2-1, and 5 Lurk Supports taking down BALD 2-0.
This setup the grand final between the two teams, headlined by Royal's Dylan "RIKO" Sabin-Arnce and ex-Zone's Mike "Swisher" Schmid, respectively. Things started off in the favor of Socal Stars, as they took Overpass 16-10, but they would not remain that way, as 5 Lurk Supports were able to reverse-sweep the series with identical 16-10 scorelines on Dust2 and Train.
The final standings of Frag for First are as follows:
