karrigan led by example against Renegades

FaZe avoid Renegade scare, G2 edge out Gambit

After a big comeback by Renegades, FaZe managed to close out Train, while G2 took out Gambit in overtime.

FaZe began their final game of the day with a quick pistol win by Håvard "rain" Nygaard. Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer secured the anti-force-buy round with an easy 4K with the FAMAS, putting FaZe in good position for their CT half. On round three, Nikola "NiKo" Kovač began with big three kills, but Justin "jks" Savage pulled off a huge 1v3 clutch to secure Renegades their first round.

FaZe fought back and strung some rounds together, featuring some plays by Finn "karrigan" Andersen, and got a seven round lead. Renegades finally won a second round, but are reset by another big triple by karrigan. With important rounds won by olofmeister and karrigan, FaZe finished off the half with a 13-2 lead.

Lucky for the Renegades, the Australians won the critical pistol round, giving themselves a chance at a comeback. Keith "NAF" Markovic acted on his star role in RNG, and easily claimed the second round for his team. Noah "Nifty" Francis began to pick up some momentum, which boded well for his team's comeback efforts. Renegades made it all the way to 10 rounds, but FaZe finally found success on the B site and won their 14th.

Surprisingly, FaZe were immediately reset, putting their economy into the bin and putting Renegades within range of completing the comeback. NAF cleaned up the eco round by FaZe, put the Australian team up to 13. The T side of FaZe was too much in the end, as the European squad closed out Train 16-13

With this result, FaZe stay undefeated in their group, with only Gambit and Liquid left to face tomorrow. Renegades end they day with a record of 1-2 after two close losses, and will move on to face OpTic and Gambit tomorrow to try and make the playoffs.

After losing in overtime to Liquid, Gambit started their game on Overpass against G2 by winning the pistol round thanks to some good kills by Bektiyar "fitch" Bahytov. Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov followed up his teammates triple with one of his own, to secure the second round as well. To complete the initial round trio, Rustem "mou" Telepov did some money farming with the MAC-10, leading into an important gun round for both sides.

Richard "shox" Papillon led his team to to win that gun round, but were unable to convert the round. Many of the rounds were close, with Abay "HObbit" Khasenov leading the way for Gambit, leading to a scoreline of 3-5 for Gambit. mou secured three big kills in round nine, but G2 won the retake and kept their small comeback alive.

Despite shox and Kenny "kennyS" Schrub putting in lots of frags, G2 were unable to take the lead on the CT side. Gambit generally kept in control of the half, with mou leading the way as he has done on Overpass before, but another big round from kennyS secured G2 a 7-8 halftime score.

Dan "apEX" Madesclaire, someone not usually known for his pistol play, got three frags against Gambit while at a man disadvantage, but was unable to covert that into a round win. fitch added three kills to his total in the anti-force-buy, and Gambit edged ever closer to the 16 rounds.

mou kept on his AWP rampage, securing many multi-kill rounds, and HObbit contributed his fair share to propel Gambit to a 13-8 score. kennyS and apEX managed to keep their teammates in the game however, pulling it back to 13-13 despite the efforts of Dosia and Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev. G2 finally took the lead in round 29, but off the back of tremendous play with the CZ-75, Gambit took the game to overtime.

G2 acquired two of the three rounds in the first half of overtime, and going into the CT side they had the advantage. Dosia began the second half of OT with a big quadruple kill, tying the scoreline. The final two rounds were traded between the French and CIS teams, forcing double overtime.

Although G2 decided to buy three AWPs in the second overtime, they still won the round thanks to kennyS's big defense on A. G2 and Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt then proceeded to sweep the half for a score of 21-18. The Frenchmen decided to use the triple AWP setup again, and despite the triple kill 1v4 attempt by apEX, HObbit managed to secure the defuse and keep Gambit in the game. kennyS decided that it was time to end the game, and won the 1v2 clutch to win the map finally 22-19.
