Falcons lose seventh grand final in a row with loss to Legacy at CAC 2026

Falcons were felled in their second straight final, this time 3-1 to Brazilian team Legacy at the CS Asia Championships. This loss comes a week after their 3-0 loss to Spirit in the grand final of PGL Astana. The loss in Shanghai continues a fairly embarrassing stat for the "superteam" as they have now lost their seventh grand finals in a row, with their first and only S-tier trophy coming at PGL Bucharest 2025.

Falcons started hot v. Legacy in Shanghai, stealing Legacy's Nuke pick to begin the series after taking the final four rounds to win 13-11. From there, it all went the way of the Brazilians, as Legacy only trailed in rounds in map three, when Falcons had a 3-0 edge. Legacy won map two on Ancient 13-9, map three on Mirage 13-6, and finally map four on Dust2 13-6.

Bruno "latto" Rebelatto was awarded the MVP of the tournament, thanks to his 1.29 overall rating and stellar 1.52 rating in the grand final.

There are good signs for Falcons from these two results, given the recent import of Finn "karrigan" Andersen as IGL. With karrigan's arrival, Russian youngster Maksim "kyousuke" Lukin has seen a solid uptick in form.

kyousuke was averaging a 1.15 rating in 121 maps played since joining Falcons in June 2025, which has risen to a 1.21 rating over 30 maps since karrigan joined the team last month. kyousuke was also the only Falcons player to average greater than a 1.20 rating in both PGL Astana and the CS Asia Championships.

The loss to Legacy will sting more than the one to Spirit, as the Europeans would expect to beat a side like Legacy on any other day. The CAC result serves as further proof of Nikola "NiKo" Kovač's grand final woes in 2026.

His overall rating this year is a 1.10 over 87 maps, but that statistic drops to a dismal 0.89 across ten grand final maps. This is especially disappointing when compared with the aforementioned kyousuke, whose 1.17 rating in 77 maps jumps up to a 1.30 in seven maps in grand finals.

Falcons will next take to the server at the IEM Cologne Major, where they have earned a berth into Stage 3, which begins on June 11th and concludes with the grand final on June 21st.
