Breaking: Marsborne sign nicx

After learning from multiple sources that Marsborne were closing in on a deal to acquire Nicholas "nicx" Lee from Passion UA, the organization has confirmed to Dust2.us that they have acquired the rifler from the Ukrainian organization. nicx will replace Mark "marekiew" Petrov in the starting lineup, with the latter player heading to the bench three months after joining Marsborne.

nicx leaves Passion UA as one of the final players left on the organization's books who did not have a rumored new home. The move sees nicx return to the domestic NA scene after spending the last 18 months dividing his time at home and abroad with Complexity and Passion UA.

In replacing marekiew, nicx replaces a player who has underwhelmed to a degree since receiving the call-up from Marsborne. In his three months with the team, marekiew posted a 0.91 rating over 40 maps while notably struggling against some of NA's top squads like M80, Voca, and the former Passion UA lineup.

Regarding the changes to the lineup, Marsborne's general manager and head coach Hunter "Lucid" Tucker told Dust2.us:

We are happy to be able to pickup nicx. He brings more youth to our "next gen" rebuild that we are undergoing while also bringing more professional experience than marekiew.

I want to make sure I address as well, marekiew was a fantastic pickup. He lacked the experience Nick has and for us to be as competitive as possible we decided to capitalize on that opportunity.

We're excited to keep developing with this youth movement and I personally look forward to coaching Nick after his time in Complexity and Passion UA.

As Lucid notes, nicx comes into Marsborne with a wealth of experience after his time with Complexity and Passion UA, notably attending two Majors and a number of S-tier events during that time.

On Marsborne, nicx reunites with former LAG teammate Bogdan "ogwizard" Savula with whom he played for seven months back in 2024.

An official announcement from Marsborne is expected in the coming days with the roster expected to debut in the BLAST Open Porto NA Open Qualifier tomorrow.
