Supernova Comets empathy: "If we play the same tomorrow, we could win the whole event"

Lucy "empathy" Verkaik spoke with Dust2.us' Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore after her team's 2-0 semifinal win over NIP Impact at the ESL Impact League S7 Finals.

Supernova Comets are now looking to continue to make history for NA Impact, as they were the North American team to qualify for the Impact Finals playoffs in two years, and now they're the first NA team to ever appear in the grand final.

empathy commented on her team's form in the tournament, their chances at the title tomorrow, and emerging from behind FlyQuest Red in the NA scene.

First big stage in your career and for Impact, after being in the league for six or seven seasons, how does it feel to be a part of that history?

I'm so excited, I couldn't be more proud of my team. I'm ready to win, I'm ready to perform.

It was another great performance from you and Fawx. How are you feeling about your team's form after the win against NIP Impact?

It was great, everything we wanted to do just flowed. We fumbled a few rounds, but we played so well as a team everything felt fluid and I'm really excited. I think if we play the same tomorrow, we could win the whole event.

We saw earlier in the tournament NIP Impact beat Imperial Valkyries. Beating the team that beat the team that wins all the Impact tournaments is huge. It feels like an NA Impact title is within grasp. What would it mean to take home that title for North America?

It would be huge to win an Impact event in North America for North America. I'm super excited, I hope there's people cheering for us in the crowd. It means a lot and it's a huge honor to be able to play on stage and I'm grateful to all of our support as well.

The scene has always been focused on FlyQuest Red being the banner carriers for North America. Whatever other team you were on, you were always kind of in the background going out 0-2. This changes everything, right?

Yeah, it changes everything. I think I've always had it in me, and I've always been capable, but it's hard when you don't have a team that can play around you.

In this team, we all play around each other. We can all support each other. I've loved playing with them, and I really hope we can do incredible things, not just at this event but at future events. We are super well-rounded, everybody's got their strengths, and we all play off of them really well.
