Fisher College dominate Playfly Tournament of Champions Collegiate CS2 tournament

Fisher was a dominant force in collegiate esports this weekend.

This weekend top top collegiate teams descended on Arlington, Texas to compete in Playfly's Tournament of Champions, a multi-discipline LAN tournament marking the end of the season for eight esports titles in Playfly's collegiate circuit. For Counter-Strike 2, the tournament consisted of eight teams competing for $2,500 in scholarships with notable names like Fisher and Northwood in attendance.

Fisher's squad were heavy favorites due to their results across the NA circuit and the presence of EU talent — although it's worth noting Matthew "tatm" Munro stood in for Þorsteinn "TH0R" Friðfinnsson due to the latter being in Iceland. With this in mind, it is unsurprising Fisher dominated in the Group B, taking quick wins over Texas A&M and RIT Orange to lock in playoffs. They were joined in the playoffs by Cumberland University from Group B alongside Northwood and OSUBGC Scarlet in Group A.

In playoffs, Fisher's dominance continued as they notched a quick 2-0 win over OSUBGC Scarlet to meet Northwood in the finals. Map one, Inferno, was competitive with Fisher needing to clutch round 24 to take the map 13-11 while map two, Nuke, saw Fisher dominate to win the map 13-2.

Top four for the Playfly Tournament of Champions Collegiate CS2 tournament was:

1st - Fisher College - (tatm, AlekS, ReFuZR, CrePoW, corn) - $1,500
2nd - United States Northwood - (SolGoat, xCAPE, Ellis, TiCx, Mellow) - $1,000
3rd/4th - United States Cumberland University - (Kranoli, Blaine, Peachy, Neighborly, Rex0, Coach: tawa)
3rd/4th - United States OSUBGC Scarlet - (Ball, JAKEY, swifty, Mun, bucketl)

Overall, Fisher College did quite well for themselves in Arlington, with the school also winning the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Rainbow Six: Siege, Call of Duty, and League of Legends tournaments.
