regali has a chance to prove himself to Tier 1 orgs at Dallas

regali: "All the offers are coming now"

A promising first game from the Romanian AWPer leaves OG in a good mood.

As is now IEM Dallas tradition, stand-ins flew from across the world to join teams facing visa or other issues regarding the American tournament. OG's own Abdul "degster" Gasanov was preoccupied during the event, leading for the international team to call upon the services of the young Iulian "regali" Harjău to fill out the squad.

In their tough opening match against FURIA, regali emerged as a diamond in the rough, posting a 1.15 rating throughout the 30 round affair. After his positive first performance, Dust2.us' Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore interviewed the stand-in to talk about his status in the team, his months since Copenhagen Flames, and more.

Please note that the full interview can be found below on YouTube, while the transcript has some key snippets from their conversation.

You're taking over for degster this event, and the roster is built around him. Is that how it's been for you as well?

Definitely, I just have to show up with my own intuition and my small experience. They're pretty much playing around me, yeah.

You've been in free agency since around mid-April when you were released from Copenhagen Flames' bench. How was your team search and what have you been doing since then?

I've been playing a lot of FACEIT haha. Deathmatch, watch some demos, the Major as well, been cheering for iM, the Romanian player. All the offers are coming now, basically, or just before OG. I'm excited for the player break as well.

You speak Danish as well. How does niko's calling compare to the Danish IGL's you've worked with in your time, like birdfromsky?

birdfromsky had to manage more players into his own system, he was thinking for all of us, kind of. The plans were all mega structured. Here, in this team, with niko, it's more about adapting to the opponent's style, and basically everybody is coming up with ideas. flameZ is sometimes talking more than niko.

Part of the reason niko is calling and flameZ is helping is that nexa has been out of the roster for some time. Do you have any idea if niko leading is a long term strategy or are there any plans for nexa to come back into the roster?

I actually have no idea; that's something I've been wondering myself. I'm trying not to focus on that, just to play my own game.

Looking towards the future, we have the player break coming up, we have CS2 coming up, we have your first big LAN which could really set you up for success. What are you looking for in the future? Is it going to be an international team or will it be another Danish team, a Romanian superteam perhaps?

I really hope to play for an international team, because the ideas come from every single player. They recognize that they have to talk way more than in a mother language speaking team. A Romanian superteam has been made for some IESF tournament, but that's not for the future maybe.
