Liquid ease through to the Semifinals

The Americans are simply unstoppable as they take down MOUZ in the quarterfinals.

With Liquid the last remaining North American team at ESL Pro League, they went up against Group C first place finishers MOUZ. The Americans have continued to put in stellar performances and with the Americas RMR looming ahead, they want to take any good momentum into the hotly contested Major qualifier event. Liquid has been, inarguably, carried by the scruff of their necks this far thanks to the dominance of Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis who has been an otherwordly entry this tournament.

Into the action, the match started out on Liquid's pick of Inferno with the Americans immediately jumping out to hot start with a pistol round win and the next six of seven rounds to take a comfortable 7-1 lead. At this point, MOUZ finally found their footing and started to put up a decent defense so they could secure a paltry four rounds in the half to go behind 4-11.

Liquid looked increasingly comfortable on Inferno by winning their CT-side pistol and widening the gap to 13-4. Despite some mid-round surges by MOUZ, it was ultimately down to Joshua "oSee" Ohm and Keith "NAF" Markovic who would stymie the offense and secure Inferno for Liquid with a 16-10 scoreline.

Switching to MOUZ's pick of Ancient, the Europeans looked threatening by taking the opening pistol round of their map pick, however Liquid's CT side proved strong. They would only allow MOUZ to get six rounds on their T-side with plenty of back and forth action happening between.

Despite only achieving nine rounds on their CT-side, Liquid looked as if they had the momentum on their side. While losing the second-half pistol after getting a bomb plant with five alive was not part of the plan, the immediate half-buy round win definitely was. From there, Liquid just could not stop rolling as they would win five rounds in a row to make it 14-7. Liquid would eventually bring it home after some back and forth rounds, but with a comfortable scoreline of 16-11.

Liquid now move on and will play the winner of Cloud9 v. Faze Clan on Saturday at 09:30AM.
