NAF was pivotal in Liquid's triumph over Complexity

Liquid best Complexity in BLAST Premier Spring Groups

Complexity had little to show in their debut event of 2023.

The North-American brawl in the lower bracket of Group B at the BLAST Premier Spring Groups has come to a close, with Liquid coming out ahead of their compatriots 2-0, after securing victories on Anubis and Overpass. With this result, Liquid will now be preparing to face OG for a shot at the BLAST Premier Spring Finals, while Complexity will have to bide their time in the knockout stage.

The series kicked off on Complexity's pick of Anubis, a map the side had yet to play while their opponent had already racked up three officials on it. That official experience may have been a significant contributor to the map's result, as Liquid stormed ahead on their CT-side with a streak of twelve rounds to kick things off. Complexity eventually managed to break this up with two rounds of their own, but Liquid were still able to snatch a triumphant 13-2 half. With a second-half pistol round to boot, Liquid quickly wrapped up their opponent's map pick 16-2, hardly breaking a sweat.

Early on Liquid's pick of Overpass, it looked as if the map was set to play out in more or less the same way, as Liquid carried over their momentum from Anubis with a commanding 8-1 lead on the offense. Complexity were not content to let Overpass be a stomp, however, as they rebounded by claiming five of the last six rounds to keep their deficit down to three rounds with a 6-9 half.

Complexity snatched the second pistol round, looking poised to tie up the game, but Liquid immediately responded with a force-buy victory in the following round which propelled their lead to 12-7. Complexity continued to fight tooth and nail to keep themselves in the game, but two more losses to half-buys from Liquid ultimately kept Complexity on the back foot. At this point, the map devolved into the two sides trading alternating round wins, a situation that favored Liquid due to their already built-up lead. Liquid ultimately sealed their map pick with a 16-12 scoreline after Complexity faltered to yet another half-buy, the fourth time in the half.
