Liquid can't beat MOUZ; headed to IEM Chengdu quarterfinals
Liquid had a good chance of advancing directly to the semifinals of IEM Chengdu but to reach them, they would have to overcome MOUZ, who are coming off close wins against TYLOO and FURIA. The series would not go the Americans' way as MOUZ managed to win the series 2-0.
Liquid are now waiting to know who they are going to face from Group B. The winner of FlyQuest v. FaZe will get to play against Liquid in the quarterfinals of IEM Chengdu.
The series between Liquid and MOUZ started off on Inferno with the European squad opening a 4-0 lead before Liquid got its first. The team led by Casper "cadiaN" Møller was able to win two more before MOUZ would reach an 8-3 lead. Liquid closed the half with a round win and started the CT-side with another and, despite MOUZ winning the next one, Liquid would go on to reach an 11-9 lead. Then MOUZ rallied back and got four in a row to claim the 13-11 Inferno win.
Onto Mirage, MOUZ showed why it is the team's pick as they claimed a huge T-side half win. Liquid started 0-4 again, got two rounds back but then they could win another one as MOUZ was leading 9-3 going into the CT-side. Liquid had a positive start to the T-side, winning the pistol and the following round before MOUZ extended the lead to 10-5. After a small trade of rounds, MOUZ was leading 12-6 and put an end to the series right after.
The next game for Liquid is scheduled to be played on Friday at the Wuliangye Chengdu Performing Arts Centre in the quarterfinals of IEM Chengdu against the winner of FlyQuest v. FaZe.
