Party Astronauts exit Jönköping after loss to Falcons
The Partynauts didn't get off to a good start in ESL Challenger Jönköping, dropping quickly to The MongolZ on day one with a 13-3 loss but the squad still had the chance to fight for playoffs if they were to beat Falcons today in a Bo3 Elimination series.
Unfortunately, the homegrown North American talent couldn't overcome the Saudi-backed squad and are now eliminated from the event. The Party Astronauts can still be proud of their Nuke performance, pushing some of the world's best players to three overtimes there.
The series started off on Anubis, picked by PA. It was not fun for North American fans, as the squad swiftly found itself with a 5-2 deficit that only got extended to a 9-3 CT-side half. The offensive side didn't help, either, as PA could only claim the pistol round before the Falcons closed Anubis 13-4.
Nuke was a different story, though. A closer first half that only saw Party Astronauts going down 5-7, meant an improvement over Anubis already, but the best was yet to come, as the North American T-side propelled the squad to overtime. It was close for both sides, with PA leaving the map with a bittersweet taste, but after three overtimes, the Falcons claimed the 22-20 Nuke win and the 2-0 series win.
While Party Astronauts have been eliminated from ESL Challenger Jönköping, the Falcons will face The MongolZ for a place in the playoffs.
