junior powered Gas Money to a first-place finish with a 1.70 rating in the grand finals

Gas Money pass go, collect $4,000 in ESEA x Fragadelphia Summer Cash Cup 4

The mix team faced limited opposition across the whole tournament.

Gas Money, a mix team comprising the likes of Paytyn "junior" Johnson and Alan "Shakezullah" Hardeman, have reigned supreme over Gaimin Gladiators in the fourth ESEA x Fragadelphia Summer Cash Cup netting themselves the $4,000 grand prize in the process. This victory sees the squad get revenge versus the Gladiators after losing to the team in the finals of last week's Cash Cup.

The biggest upsets of the first day came at the hands of the Peruvian-majority side Mad Kings who took the scalps of the newly-promoted ESL Challenger League squads Northern Forces and ONET4P. Outside of these surprising results by the South Americans, the rest of the bracket played out largely as expected, with timbermen, Gaimin Gladiators, and Gas Money all securing day two berths just like last week.

The Shakezullah-led lineup found themselves up against timbermen for their semifinal matchup, kicking things off on the mix team's pick of Nuke. A truly dominant T-side by Gabe "Spongey" Greiner allowed his team to lead 12-3 by the switch, before going on to post four rounds to their opponents' three in the second half to put things to bed with a comfortable 16-6 scoreline.

With the wind in their sails, Gas Money put their foot to the floor on Mirage, seeing Shakezullah and company storm ahead to lead 12-3 by the end of their defensive effort. From here on out, it was simply a case of taking care of business, with Gas Money quickly finding the three rounds they needed to close the map 16-3 and book themselves a spot in the grand finals for the second time running.

Overpass played host to the first map of the final, with Gas Money carrying their momentum from the last game forward as they jumped out to an overpowering 9-1 lead. Looking to not be left behind however, the Gladiators did awake from their hibernation, trailing by just three rounds at the end of the first half. From here on out, neither side was able to take full control of the game, but this scrappy nature didn't stop Gas Money from finding the final few rounds required to secure their choice of Overpass 16-10.

Any hopes of a reverse sweep by Gaimin Gladiators were soon dashed by the time Dust2 rolled around, with a stellar defense by the mix team seeing the team put up a commanding 14-1 scoreline by the swap. A three-round spree at the start of the second half by David "cynic" Polster and company did help show signs of life, but Gas Money were simply too far ahead for any meaningful comeback to be made, and the map eventually ended 16-4 in favor Shakezullah's boys.
