The last event ShoT_UP attended was the Season 26 MDL Global Challenge LAN in January

Mad City Chicago CS:GO Open kicks off tomorrow

The $10,000 Non-BYOC LAN event tees off at the Pheasant Run Resort & Golf Club this weekend in St. Charles, Illinois.

From March 9th through the 11th, 32 teams that have been randomly seeded into their eight respective groups will be duking it out for a share of the $10,000 prize pool. A mix of Main & MDL level teams, along with many mixed cores, will be attending along with the briefly retired Shawn “witmer” Taylor and Andrew “ShoT_UP” Orlowski.

It’s been two weeks for witmer, and the same number of months for ShoT_UP since they last saw some competitive CS:GO action. Their retirements came at times when both players had lost their fire to continue to play the game, both of them explaining in Twitlonger’s that they have had enough for a bit.

The common duo of witmer and Jasper "sfX" Ko come to Madcity as The X1 Mob with a new set of three players who all have MDL experience. ShoT_UP boasts some familiar faces with longtime teammate Jason "neptune" Tran as well as former Dethrone teammate, and doppelganger Will "dazzLe" Loafman.

Two players will also be dodging the function all together. Wyatt "tw1ggy" Blatt will be leaving eRa behind, and Robin "Attacker" Leach has similarly Fam143. Attacker, commonly known as Bogdan, had a slightly more aggressive method of departing his former squad.

Here are some teams to watch at the event, featuring eUnited on eUnited crime:

  • United States Mask Off (tyfoon, Hydrex, vanity, moose, Snakes)
  • United States eRa (SPERMY, phantom, SIDOF, crashies, juice)
  • United States Etherian (Strings, motm, Infinite, oSee, ben1337)
  • United States The X1 Mob (sfX, witmer, zNf, L0NER, retrQ)
  • United States Drip or Drown (Neptune, ShoT_UP, dazzle, Ace, dapr)
  • United States RivaL (Recky, ptrip, kuba, 4pack, gola)

With a Bo1 Round Robin group format, the top two teams of each group will move onto the Round of 16, single-elimination playoffs. The Ro16 will continue the Bo1 trend, until the Quarterfinals begin to introduce the Bo3 single-elimination format. The event will close out with a Bo5 Grand Finals.

The prize distribution for the event is as follows:

1. - $7,000
2. - $2,000
3/4th. - $500
