First Intel Challenge Katowice 2018 details announced

The all-female event has received a prize pool bump, but CLG Red will have to fight to get there.

ESL have announced the first bits of information about this year's iteration of the Intel Challenge Katowice, one of the staple events of the female CS:GO calendar.

The 2018 edition will see the customary eight teams do battle for a prize pool of $50,000 — an increase of $20,000 over previous years. The invited teams hail from across the globe, with ARES fe representing Russia, Dignitas fe representing North America, and RES representing Europe.

Unlike in previous years, CLG Red have not received a direct invite to the event. Instead, they will have to make their way through the North American qualifier, which will take place on January 31st. Qualifiers in Asia, Europe, and Brazil will round out the field of competitors.

The event is likely to be the debut of the new-look RES squad, who have just recently joined the organization from Dynasty, and added Christine "potter" Chi in doing so. potter had been a member of UBINITED/CLG Red since 2012.

The current team list for the event is as follows:

ARES fe United States Dignitas fe
RES World TBD
Brazil TBD TBD
TBD TBD

Female teams interested in particpating in the qualifiers for the event can sign-up here.

No offense but this is a large prize for a low level of competition..

Large salaries and big prize pools for females only is going to encourage complacency
