Guerri is on the outs

FURIA bench IGL, move guerri away from coaching role

Changes are here.

FURIA have announced this morning that Andrei "arT" Piovezan has been removed from the starting lineup. Head coach Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira will transition to the organization's Head of Esports. guerri will continue the role for now while he, CEO Jaime Padua, Gabriel “Fallen” Toledo and Co-Owner André Akkari search for a new coach. Sid "sidde" Macedo will continue as the assistant coach for now. arT will be replaced by Kayke "kye" Bertolucci for the moment, but a search for the permanent fifth is on going.

As for the new leadership, FalleN will now pick up the mantle of in-game leading. "Regardless of the new technical committee, the departure of arT was something that we had already reached a consensus on. FalleN's leadership in terms of IGL proved to be more appropriate for the team's moment," guerri explained in the post. "The styles conflict at times and both Sidde and the board of directors think it's best to start the entire reformulation process with this first decision. I wish arT all the luck in the world, he has a huge talent and I'm sure he will still bring joy to Brazilian CS lovers."

The moves have come following reports yesterday from Dust2 Brasil who said that FURIA Academy product kye has been practicing with the team without arT ahead of their next LAN appearance at the Global Esports Tour Rio this week.

The changes have not come as a shock following statements from Co-Owner Akkari just last week. In a post, he explained that FURIA's moment in CS requires change, however those changes would be done in an intelligent and feasible way. Akkari also explained that nobody was being protected and the reason changes were not made previously was due to market forces.

The removal of arT will be the first time that the core of Yuri "yuurih" Boian, Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato, and arT will be broken up since the latter two joined the organization in early 2018, more than six years ago.

FURIA's current squad is now:

  • Brazil Yuri "yuurih" Boian

  • Brazil Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato

  • Brazil Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo

  • Brazil Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes

  • Brazil Kayke "kye" Bertolucci (Stand-in)

  • Brazil Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira (Coach)
