Yeah, we have a hard time looking at this too

autimatic joins T1 VALORANT

The final holdout from the former Gen.G CS:GO roster has moved on.

One of the most experienced players in North American CS:GO history has decided to call it a career and make the switch over to VALORANT. T1 announced Timothy "autimatic" Ta as the newest member of their VALORANT roster today, ensuring that they have more North American CS:GO Major winners than any CS:GO roster.

autimatic plied his trade for Gen.G most recently, though there were rumors that he was a part of plans to form an international team with Robin "flusha" Rönnquist and Miikka "suNny" Kemppi. flusha acknowledged the truth to the rumors recently on HLTV Confirmed, but also noted that a lack of organizational support doomed the project in its planning stages.

With Gen.G, autimatic won DreamHack Open Anaheim 2020 and ESL One: Road to Rio, but most of his crowning achievements from his seven-year career came while playing for Cloud9. He played in four Majors with the American organization and was of course a part of the roster that won the Boston ELEAGUE Major in 2018. He was also the MVP of Cloud9's victorious ESL Pro League Season 4 Finals campaign, finished as #17 in HLTV's 2018 player ranking, and defeated NiP and Natus Vincere en route to a runner-up finish at ESL One Cologne 2017. His career also featured stints with TSM and Complexity.

This move reunites autimatic with his former Major-winning teammate Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham and David Denis. Denis was previously a psychology trainer who worked with autimatic during their overlapping stints with Cloud9 and is now the coach of T1 VALORANT.

As T1 has not yet commented publicly, questions still remain as to who autimatic will be replacing after Lauren "pansy" Scott tweeted a picture of the T1 lineup that included autimatic and coach David Denis as a placeholder in lieu of Braxton "brax" Pierce and Keven "AZK" Lariviere. The duo were notably the only players on the current roster that were omitted from the announcement video.

With the changes T1 VALORANT are now:

  • United States Braxton "brax" Pierce
  • Canada Keven "AZK" Lariviere
  • United States Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham
  • United States Sam "DaZeD" Marine
  • Ha "Spyder" Jung-woo
  • United States Timothy "autimatic" Ta
  • Canada David Denis (Coach)

As made clear in the announcement, T1 have their sights set on success in the VALORANT Champions Tour. The team finished one series shy of qualifying for this stage's first Challenger event, but will have a new lineup for the start of the open qualifier for the second Challenger event beginning on February 10th.
