The competition is already well underway

ESL to keep Overpass in the rotation for Pro League

Complexity can rest easy.

ESL will continue playing on the previous patch for ESL Pro League Season 19 with Overpass remaining in the pool and players unable to switch hands. It also means that Inferno's newest changes will not yet be seen and the quality of life updates that many have already found useful will not be seen just yet.

The competition is already well into Groups A & B so adjusting to a new patch now would be "not be fair" for Groups C & D, according to current Head Counter-Strike referee for ESL Pro League Michal Slowinski.

"As for the current patch, updates (sometimes) come with unintended bugs. We will monitor the situation to see how stable it is before using it," he continued.

While organizers tend to continue on the same patch while a tournament is ongoing, there is history for including a new patch. At IEM Katowice 2024 ESL used a new patch that included improvements to peeker's advantage after consulting with teams and running tests. This update did not include more massive changes to the competitive map pool or to individual maps.

M80 is currently playing on the old Inferno against G2 where they are up 1-0 after a 13-2 drubbing on Ancient.
