s0m leaves CS:GO behind to pursue more trophies with his IGL in VALORANT

s0m follows daps from Gen.G to NRG VALORANT

The duo will hope to form the core of a powerhouse squad in Riot's game.

Sam "s0m" Oh has officially been named as the third member of NRG's VALORANT roster, just two days after the organization announced their entry into the scene with the signing of Damian "daps" Steele and Chet "Chet" Singh. s0m's move to the organization and game was originally reported by Rush B Media at the end of last month.

s0m was launched into the spotlight by his streaming contract with Complexity, though he first entered the competitive scene with Naventic in ESEA Season 25 Premier. He played a stint with Swole Patrol and eventually made his way to Envy for most of 2019 before moving to Gen.G in December 2019.

With Gen.G he won DreamHack Open Anaheim, dispatching ENCE, Complexity, North, and FURIA en route to a flawless title in which they never dropped a map. He now rejoins the in-game mastermind from that championship run.

With s0m's departure the two rosters are now:

United States NRG VALORANT United States Gen.G CS:GO
 • Canada Damian "daps" Steele
 • United States Sam "s0m" Oh
 • United States Chet "Chet" Singh (Coach)
 • Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand
 • United States Timothy "autimatic" Ta
 • United States Kenneth "koosta" Suen
 • Australia Chris "Elmapuddy" Tebbit (Coach)

It remains to be seen whether daps will look to the fledgling North American VALORANT scene for undiscovered talent to develop, or if he will recruit more former professionals from other titles like CS:GO and Overwatch. The roster needs three more players to be ready for the First Strike qualifiers that will take place in the latter half of this month, two if they can convince NRG streamer Brandon "Ace" Winn to reenter the competitive realm even temporarily.

There is now another opening for Owen "oBo" Schlatter to fill on Gen.G if the organization is willing to negotiate with Complexity to buy out his contract and secure his services. Gen.G has been tabbed multiple times as the only roster in the tier one North American scene that has the position to make changes that could accommodate the young star going forward.
