ryann is Envy's primary candidate to replace Sonic

Report: Envy in discussions to add ryann

The only Singularity player to have been left out of any previous roster rumors may be headed to Envy.

Ryan "ryann" Welsh is currently in consideration for the fifth spot on Envy, according to a report by Dexerto. Envy were reduced to four players following the departure of Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek last week.

The reported addition follows on the heels of two other moves that were reported by Rush B Media at the start of the week, with the first indicating that Sonic would return to ATK, where he would be joined by Singularity duo Ricky "floppy" Kemery and Josh "oSee" Ohm. Two of ryann's other Singularity teammates, Alan "Shakezullah" Hardman and Cameron "hydrex" Kern, were then linked to the formation of a new roster alongside Joshua "steel" Nissan, leaving ryann as the sole outlier.

Dexerto's report indicated that ryann is not the only player in Envy's sights, with the team also having reached out to steel, floppy, and Yassine "Subroza"' Taoufik during their search. However, ryann appears to be the prime candidate as discussions are now reportedly "in the advanced stages." Dust2.us knows that Envy have also already begun scrimming with ryann.

Envy are looking to make up for a lackluster start to the year, with their appearance at IEM Chicago seeing them fall to Liquid and MIBR. Although they were forced to utilize a stand-in in the latter matchup, Envy's other results have also been middling, with the team only narrowly managing to retain their spot in ESL Pro League for Season 10 following close victories over ATK and INTZ in Relegation.

With the addition of ryann, Envy's roster would look as follows:

  • United States Noah "Nifty" Francis
  • United States Jacob "FugLy" Medina
  • United States Sam "s0m" Oh
  • Canada Bradley "ANDROID" Fodor
  • United States Ryan "ryann" Welsh
  • United States Zachary "Eley" Stauffer (Coach)

Envy currently have no matches lined up as they await the end of the StarLadder Berlin Major, with their next foray and likely roster debut coming in the ECS Season 8 Pinnacle Cup and DreamHack Masters Malmo Closed Qualifier. The former event will kick off on September 10th, while the latter will begin the following day, giving the team a few precious days to get their practice in.
