osorandom and Rise's DreamHack Winter journey is over

Rise Nation eliminated from DreamHack Open Winter

A 2-0 defeat at the hands of Heroic sees our boys out of the tournament.

Rise Nation got off to a rough start on Inferno, their map pick, as Heroic claimed the opening Terrorist-side pistol. The Danes ran out to a 5-0 lead before Rise Nation were able to answer back with two rounds of their own. Unfortunately for the North Americans, those would be the only CT rounds they would get, as Heroic finished the half with a stagger 13-2 lead.

Rise gave themselves a lifeline by taking the pistol on their own T-side, and took the following three rounds as well to bring the score to 13-6. Their relentless offense brought the scoreline back to 14-11 before Heroic were able to claim their fifteenth round. Backed up against a wall, Rise stood tall, with in-game leader Andy "vSa" Xu scoring a triple kill in defense of the planted bomb in the B site, bringing his team one round away from tying the score. Alas, it was not to be, and Heroic took Inferno 16-14.

Nuke was Heroic's pick, and despite Rise Nation being comfortable and dominant on the map in North America, they were clearly outclassed in this match, with the Danish side again dominating the first half, to the tune of 12-3. Rise Nation granted themselves a brief reprieve by securing their CT pistol and the following round, but Heroic won the third round of the second half and never looked back, with the final score being 16-4.

As mentioned, the result sees Rise Nation exiting the tournament in 7-8th place, $2,000 richer. However, the real reward for the team will undoubtedly be confidence they gained by playing close maps against the defending Major champions and Heroic.

Rise Nation will next see action in the grand finals of CEVO Main Season 13, where they await the winners of the lower bracket final between the Argentinian's of Gale Force and domestic rivals SoaR.

Tomorrow we will have an interview with Will "dazzLe" Loafman, so be on the lookout for that!
