yay appears to be settling in with Lazarus well as the team advanced to the semi-finals without much trouble

eUnited and Lazarus still alive in first ESL One New York qualifier

A new-look Lazarus and eUnited will be facing off against Luminosity and oNe tomorrow.

Day one of the first ESL One New York qualifier has concluded, leaving just four teams out of the initial 53 that entered.

The first two rounds of the qualifier proceeded without any upsets, with the only notable North American loss coming in the form of Good Game PR falling to Infinity in the first round.

Lazarus, with Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker in tow, have progressed through the bracket without much trouble thus far. Their closest match came against Hysteria, where the Advanced team were able to find 11 rounds against the EPL team. Lazarus made up for it in the following round by claiming a 16-8 victory against New Identity to make their way into the top four.

The next section of the bracket saw Luminosity play numerous close games, taking on Infinity in the fourth round, and achieving a 16-11 win on Dust2. In the next round of play, the Brazilians faced off against South African squad ATK, with the first thirty rounds of play ended in a dead heat. It would take three overtimes before Luminosity were finally able to close out the map with a 25-21 finish.

eUnited was the third team to make it into the semifinals, with the team starting their qualifier run off with a bye and two quick victories over "truuuuu lmao" and Lowkey. Facing off against Singularity, the first half of Inferno ended with eUnited in the lead 9-6. Despite the MDL team tieing things up after claiming the opening pistol, eUnited eventually won out 16-12.

The final portion of the bracket saw oNe make their way to the top four following victories against Just Swing, Variance, and Envy. The most difficult match of the Brazilian's qualifier run actually came against Variance, with the shuffle-prone team taking oNe into double digits, before falling 16-11. oNe made surprisingly quick work of the new-look Envy squad, battering them 16-5 to advance.

Play will continue tomorrow, with Lazarus facing off against Luminosity at 6 PM EDT, and eUnited taking on oNe at 9 PM EDT. The winners of each match will advanced to the ESL One New York Closed Qualifier, where they will be joined by invited sides, and two teams from the second qualifier.
