compLexity inks deal with WinStar Casino
compLexity announced yesterday that they had signed an agreement with WinStar World Casino for them to become compLexity's exclusive casino partner, in the first deal of it's kind for a North American esports organization.
WinStar World Casino is located in nearby Thackerville, Oklahoma, and is one of the largest casinos in the world. The terms of the deal allow compLexity's players access to the various amenities the casino provides, "including the hotel, golf courses and concerts." The deal also means that compLexity players will makee "routine appearances" at the venue, with WinStar having the option to host "biannual boot camps" alongside meet and greet events.
This is the latest in an increase of fortunes for the organization, who most recently made the playoffs of the FACEIT London Major in September, falling only to MIBR in the quarterfinal stage. This was their first Major appearance since EMS One Katowice 2014 with a roster that would later become Cloud9.
On signing the deal, CEO and co-founder of compLexity Jason Lake said:
WinStar is a preeminent gaming and entertainment venue, and we are excited for them to become our exclusive casino partner. This partnership signals a significant shift in the esports sphere toward making competitive gaming entertainment even more mainstream.
This deal is an extension of the one signed by the Dallas Cowboys in September, which was also the first of its kind for the NFL. The Dallas Cowboys are owned by Jerry Jones, who is also a majority owner of compLexity alongside John Goff, after the two acquired the team just over a year ago. compLexity are very integrated with the Dallas Cowboys, with the organization based at The Star.
