FURIA unable to make it work with spacca, pick up ableJ

A promotion from FURIA Inagame sees ableJ grab a spot on the starting lineup.

FURIA have promoted Rinaldo "ableJ" Moda Junior from their Inagame academy roster to their main squad, replacing 28-year-old veteran Guilherme "spacca" Spacca following lackluster results online, marked most recently by the team's elimination from the ECS Season 6 Challenger Cup by the hands of Gorilla Gang.

This leaves Vinicius "VINI" Figueiredo and the team's coach Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira as the final two members of the original FURIA lineup that was signed in August of 2017.

ableJ has drawn both national and international attention from other teams during his time on FURIA Inagame, according to the organization. While the team works to secure a visa for him, ableJ has already begun to practice with the remaining FURIA players from Brazil as he prepares to move to Miami.

A Twitlonger released by spacca shortly after the announcement expands on the change, stating that he knew he was not playing up to par and that he didn't want to hold his teammates back with his performance. While he plans to take a step back from competing in CS:GO, he remains with FURIA as a part of their content team and as a publicist, a role which he previously occupied before esports and has always wanted to return to according to a tweet from guerri.

FURIA initially impressed with their debut in North America, taking down compLexity and eUnited at the ZOTAC Cup Masters Americas Finals in Santa Ana in series play before falling to Ghost in the grand finals. Unfortunately, their 2nd place finish at ZOTAC Cup remains their only notable achievement since their move as they went on to exit the Americas Minor in 7-8th, and have failed to advance out of the numerous qualifiers they have played in the past months despite proceeding to the latter stages.

With the addition of ableJ, FURIA's roster consists of:

  • Brazil Yuri "yuurih" Gomes
  • Brazil Andrei "arT" Piovezan
  • Brazil Vinicius "VINI" Figueiredo
  • Brazil Kaike "kscerato" Cerato
  • Brazil Rinaldo "ableJ" Moda Junior
  • Brazil Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira (Coach)

FURIA are currently 3-0 in ESEA Advanced Season 29, with their next match seeing them take on Kyle "OCEAN" O'Brien's subtLe tonight at 10 PM EDT. They will also continue to participate in other upcoming leagues and qualifiers as the year draws on.
